JCRC’s research seek to generate evidence for influencing health policies, enhancing medical practice, strengthening program implementation, and improving health services delivery for the achievement of positive health outcomes.
JCRC innovative and evidence-based clinical research address public health issues faced by individuals and communities in Uganda and beyond, with strong emphasis on infectious diseases.
Research Interest and Focus
We are dedicated to advancing research in infectious and non-communicable diseases (NCDs), with a focus on addressing critical health challenges through innovative treatment options and pharmaceutical developments.
With regard to infectious diseases, we conduct groundbreaking research on HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, and emerging infections, exploring new treatments, prevention strategies, and vaccine development.
Our research in non-communicable diseases target cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, cancer, sickle cell disease, hepatitis B and Yellow fever, etc with a desire to discover novel remedies and management strategies.
JCRC has contributed significantly to rolling-out new pharmaceutical products to include vaccines developed to improve health outcomes. Our research have been central in shaping national health policies and improving health systems very critical for resource-limited settings.

Dr. Charles Olaro is the Director General Health services at the Ministry of Health. He is a Senior Consultant Surgeon, has Masters Degree in Surgery, Masters in Health Services Management and Masters in Business Administration (MBA).
He is an Honorary Fellow, College of Surgeons of East Central and Southern Africa (COSECSA) and recipient of 2014 International Visitors Leadership Program on Global Women’s Health Issues under the United States Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
Dr. Olaro is the author of a book, Service Delivery Standards in Public Health Facilities in Uganda Paperback, published in 2019 by Lambert Academic Publishing. He has over 30 years of experience working in the Public and Private sector, working within Health services.
