For more than 30 years, Lubowa has been our home, and with every passing year, our bond with the community grows stronger. At the Joint Clinical Research Centre (JCRC), we believe that strong community relations are just as important as good health. It is this spirit of togetherness that inspired our participation in the recently concluded Lubowa Community Day 2025, a gathering that brought residents together for a meaningful cause.
The event took place on Saturday, August 30th, 2025, at the African Bible Institute, where neighbors came together to meet, interact, and celebrate unity. To us at JCRC, this was more than a community function; it was an opportunity to stand alongside our neighbors, to share not only joy but also the gift of health and hope.
Our team was deeply honored to provide free medical services during the day, reaffirming our commitment to improving the well-being of those around us. Residents received vital health services such as HIV testing, TB screening, mental health talks, and HIV/AIDS awareness sessions. These activities were not only aimed at ensuring healthier lives but also at building awareness and empowering individuals with the knowledge they need to make informed health choices. This continues to reflect our vision of bringing healthcare closer to the people and ensuring that no one is left behind.
Beyond health, sports played a central role in creating an atmosphere of excitement, fun, and unity. Our football team, the JCRC Discovery Dynamos, represented us with resilience and determination. With great energy and teamwork, the team once again emerged winners of the football match, proudly walking away with a trophy and a goat. This victory marked the second consecutive year of triumph, sending a strong message that JCRC is not only about research, clinical care, laboratory services, and training, but also about nurturing talent, promoting staff involvement, and celebrating wellness. The celebrations that followed were filled with laughter and joy, underscoring the importance of community spirit.
As our team captain Dr. Patrick Sebunya passionately expressed:
“Winning is not just about the trophy. It is about showing that when we stand together—as colleagues, neighbors, and friends—we can achieve great things both on and off the field.”
Residents too felt the impact of the day’s activities. One community member shared heartfelt appreciation, saying:
“We are so grateful to JCRC, not only for being our neighbors but also for caring about our health and well-being. The free services and the friendships we build here mean so much to us as a community.” – Chaiman Lubowa Community
Her words captured the mutual respect and shared value that exist between JCRC and the community—a relationship built on trust, kindness, and collective progress.
The Lubowa Community Day has always been a platform for us to connect with our neighbors beyond our institutional walls, and this year reaffirmed why we value these moments so deeply. We recognize that good neighborliness is the foundation of meaningful progress. Through such engagements, we not only celebrate togetherness but also nurture trust, strengthen bonds, and inspire shared growth.
As we reflect on the success of this year’s event, our commitment as JCRC remains unwavering. We will continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with the people of Lubowa, strengthening our bond as neighbors while delivering world-class medical services. We remain devoted to uplifting and empowering those around us, because to us, being a good neighbor means offering more than care—it means walking the journey together.
The story of Lubowa Community Day 2025 will stay with us as a powerful reminder that while science, medicine, and research are at the core of what we do, it is our human connections, our friendships, and our community ties that truly give meaning to our work. Together, we are building a stronger, healthier, and brighter future for Lubowa and beyond.
